'Hell Girl: The Fourth Twilight' Episode 12 Spoilers: Where Will the Reminiscence Episodes Take the Final Season?
The reminiscence continues on the next episode of the Japanese supernatural anime series, "Hell Girl: The Fourth Twilight."
This is the series' final season, and what better way to end it than to bring a new Hell Girl on board in the first half, then spend the entire second half on previously aired episodes that showed some of Ai Enma's most memorable cases.
But the episodes have not been reanimated, much to the fans' disappointment. Why then would the production company opt for this kind of format? A fan on MyAnimeList name MonoJuMal has pointed out that there seems to be a theme in the episodes chosen to be shown in from each season.
The first season reminiscence episodes were all about someone taking just revenge on a bully who has killed someone else. The second season episode titled "The Black Wheel Trick" showed the complete opposite of the first set in that it showed how revenge may not always be the right answer.
On the other hand, the episode taken from the third season showed two depressed characters who were lonely and were looking for a way out of their miserable lives. This may have also provided a comparison between humans and Ai Enma, whose stint at the Hell Girl lasted for years, trapping her in the gilded cage of her obligations.
Where could all of these episodes be heading to? Will there be more Hell Girl episodes afterward, featuring the new Hell Girl, Michiru? Or are the episodes only meant to close the series with some nostalgic feelings?
Moreover, should Ai Enma decide to keep her newfound freedom after passing the torch on to Michiru, where would she be going and what would she be doing instead?
"Hell Girl: Fourth Twilight" airs on Fridays at midnight JST on Tokyo MX and late night at 2:55 a.m. JST on MBS. Information on other broadcast schedules as well as online resources can be found on the series' official site. Episodes are also available in selected regions outside Japan via Crunchyroll and Amazon Prime's Anime Strike service.
