Here's What to Expect from the 'Destiny 2' Sequel
Activision has officially confirmed a "Destiny" sequel that will release in 2017, but it did not provide any other detail about the upcoming game. However, multiple reports have been linking together pieces of information about "Destiny 2" and here's what they found so far.
"Destiny 2: The Shattered Suns"
The sequel will be titled "Destiny 2: The Shattered Suns," according to information leaked on Reddit in July 2015. The original post has been deleted but another Redditor has copied the leak to a separate thread. The leak included information about "The Taken King," which mostly turned out to be true, so fans can say the information is pretty much reliable. However, it's also possible that developer Bungie could have changed the details about "Destiny 2," so readers should still temper their expectations.
Osiris
The same Reddit leak claims "Destiny 2" will mainly focus on Osiris, who is the main quest giver in the game. Players have often heard of the name but have never really seen him in the current "Destiny" game. Apparently, Osiris will be basking in the limelight for "Destiny 2." For the uninclined, Osiris is a warlock who was exiled to a temple in Mercury.
Matchmaking
Bungie's current matchmaking features leave much to be desired. However, according to a report by Kotaku, the developer is "capable of powering incredible behind the scenes, like player matchmaking." TechInsider suggests this could mean Bungie might allow matchmaking for raids or nightfall strikes.
DLCs
In terms of add-on content, both Kotaku's source and the Reddit leak agree that DLCs will be discontinued. Instead, Bungie will purportedly be switching the game to an annual model.
Readers have to remember that all these information are classified as rumors and speculations as of the moment. These should be confirmed or debunked in future "Destiny 2" announcements from Bungie or Activision.
