Herman Cain Affair Accusations: 'Here We Go Again'

It was announced on Monday that Presidential hopeful Herman Cain has been accused of having a 13-year affair with Georgia native Ginger White.

CNN broke the story during Cain’s interview with anchor Wolf Blitzer. Cain forewarned Blitzer of the allegation saying, “It is someone that I know who is an acquaintance that I thought was a friend. I did not have an affair.”

The woman in question, Ginger White, is a local businesswoman from Atlanta. She told reporters that she was aware Cain was married and that the affair was inappropriate but added that she “never wanted to hurt anyone.”

White also said that she chose to come forward with her story now because she knew of possible leaks and the threat of people coming out with their own versions of the story.

Cain’s response has been an adamant denial of the affair. He told CNN that his initial reaction was: “Here we go again.”

Several women have recently accused Cain of sexual harassment; his lawyer was quick to emphasize that this accusation is one of mutual consent.

A statement on Cain’s website offers this: “The American public is tired of dirty politics and smear tactics as evident of their tremendous outpouring of support for me, my family and my campaign this past month.”

It is true that Cain received most of the money for his campaign after the sexual harassment charges became public.

Cain has always described himself as a businessman running for President of the United States. He has enjoyed a relative upswing in support and for a time was the front-runner of the GOP nominees. This charge is merely one in a series of allegations made by women, though there has been no change in his polling numbers as of now.

Gloria Cain, Herman's wife, recently spoke to Fox News reporter Greta Van Susteren. In response to the sexual harassment allegations, Mrs. Cain insisted that her husband "totally respects women." She has not commented about the charge from White. Cain told Wolf Blitzer that he had spoken with his wife about this latest allegation and that they were of the same mindset: “Here we go again.”

Cain’s accuser, Ginger White, has said that she is sorry for any pain caused to the Cain family.
