Herman Cain Says 'Stupid People Are Ruining America'

Former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain Friday called uninformed voters "stupid people" who are "ruining America," urging those who are "well-informed" to out-vote them. He also blasted "Obamacare," saying, "It sucks," and liberals for going "crazy" when he speaks about his Christian faith.

"I have even heard people say, 'Well, I don't vote because I don't know what's going on,'" Cain told a gathering at the Faith and Freedom Coalition's "Road to Majority" conference in Washington, D.C. Friday.

"And I say 'good!' Stupid people are ruining America and I'm glad some of them stay home," he added.

The former Godfather's Pizza CEO added: "Those of us that are informed have to out-vote the stupid people. And you have got to become ambassadors of intelligence, ambassadors of information. So number one, stay informed!"

He also criticized the mainstream media for being "complicit in the cover-up and in the denial and in the overlooking of information for the American people."

"Most people don't even know we are in as bad a condition as we are in," he said. "Because you're not gonna hear it on the 6 o'clock news or the 7 o'clock news that only 58 percent of registered voters voted in the last presidential election. The mainstream media said, 'A record!' What about the 42 percent that stayed home?"

Cain said the solution is "real simple." "Those of us that are informed have got to out-vote the stupid people!"

Cain also said when he is asked what he thinks about Obama's signature healthcare law, he says "it sucks."

Blasting liberals, he said they don't like facts because they can't handle facts.

"A first grader would solve problems a lot smarter than this administration. I'm not saying that to be insulting," he said.

About his presidential run, he said he was "called to run." He added that he is often asked if he will run again. "I remind them that out currency says, 'In God we trust.' So it's natural that in God I trust. Liberals don't understand that. They go crazy when you refer to the Bible or you refer to your faith."

At the same conference Thursday, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, urged President Barack Obama to ensure the release of a Sudanese woman, Meriam Ibrahim, the wife of an American citizen sentenced to death for her Christian faith, and her two babies. He said she was awaiting a death sentence "for the simple crime of being Christian."

Cain also mentioned Saeed Abedini, an American pastor imprisoned in Iran for his faith, and the Obama administration's birth control mandate in his speech about religious freedom. "For all of us, faith is an incredible part of who we are. And yet few, if any of us in this room have ever had faith tested like that," he said.

Cruz said Obama should personally get involved in the case. "We need to speak out against these atrocities," he said. "We need to speak with one uniform, powerful clarion voice for freedom and we need the president of the United States to say in no uncertain terms, 'send Meriam home.'"
