Hillary Clinton Beats Obama: Now Most Popular Politician in America

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been voted the most popular national political figure in America, a Bloomberg National Poll has indicated.

Two-thirds of the population now favor the former First Lady, with a third saying she should have become president instead of Barack Obama.

Among the 997 adults polled, 34 percent say the government would be better under a Clinton administration while almost half say things would be the same. Clinton lost to Obama for the Democratic nomination in 2008.

Obama’s job approval ratings stand at only 45 percent, the lowest of his presidency. But the President scored well in the poll for international affairs with 42 percent approving of his performance in Libya and 65 percent condoning his efforts against terrorism.

Also 44 percent Tea Party supporters believe that America would be better with Hillary Clinton.

Clinton is most popular with those aged 65 and over with 68 percent of that age group favoring her; 35 percent of Republicans, 90 percent of Democrats, and 63 percent of Independents like her.

In an interview with Fox News, former Vice President Dick Cheney said, “I have the sense that she’s one of the more competent members of the current administration, and it would be interesting to speculate about how she might perform were she to be president.”

However, Clinton said she does not have any interest in running for Presidency: “One of the great things about being secretary of state is I am out of politics. I am not interested in being drawn back into it by anybody.”
