Dr. Seuss’ rhymed verse and illustrated story, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” had been argued by critics to criticize the commercialization of Christmas and satirizes those who profit from exploiting the holiday.
The fictional antagonist, The Grinch, has a heart “two sizes too small” and tries to prevent Christmas from arriving in the story. After stealing all gifts and decorations from Whoville, the home of the merry Whos, The Grinch realizes that Christmas is about more than material items.
The classic Christmas take is still popular with kids and adults alike, and has seen many film, television, and musical adaptations.
