Former Playboy Bunny Holly Madison once contemplated suicide, as detailed in her memoir of the time she spent in the Playboy Mansion.

The American model, reality television personality and party host will soon be releasing a memoir, "Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny," on June 23 via Harper Collins.

The tell-all memoir will detail her life and experience while living in the Playboy Mansion, painting a darker picture of oppression and manipulation behind all the publicity and notorious Mansion parties.

The 35-year-old former Playboy Bunny, born Holly Sue Cullen, appeared as one of Hugh Hefner's girlfriends in "The Girls Next Door," a reality TV series that ran on E! from 2005 to 2010. She also appeared in several nude pictorials with her fellow Hefner girlfriends, Kendra Wilkinson and Bridget Marquardt.

According to Madison, who eventually starred in her own reality TV show "Holly's World," life at the notorious mansion quickly became a nightmare for her. Her memoir tells how she nearly lost her identity, her self-worth, and even her hope for a future. A passage in the book recalls how she found herself "sitting alone in a bathtub contemplating suicide."

Madison, who was a contestant in "Dancing With The Stars" Season 8 in 2009, initially became one of Hefner's official girlfriends in 2001 to help pay for her college tuition. In 2002, she was named Hefner's Number One Girl, which moved her up to the coveted spot in his bedroom. As part of the deal, she has had cosmetic surgeries which included breast augmentation and rhinoplasty, as well as the Playboy Bunny logo tattooed in red on her lower back, a mark she later had removed.

"I think my stories will surprise people and I'm looking forward to lifting the veil of mystique and clearing up the misconceptions so often associated with my life," Madison said in an interview with Us Weekly.

Madison announced she had ended her relationship with Hefner in October 2008, and has since been married to Las Vegas experience creator Pasquale Rotella since 2013, with whom she shares a daughter.
