Hollywood Remembers 'American Bandstand' Host Dick Clark (VIDEO)
Dick Clark, America's renowned television and radio personality, died after suffering a heart attack on Wednesday and a number of celebrities took to social networking sites to remember the "American Bandstand" host.
The 82-year-old father of three is being remembered as a legend on Twitter, and fans including President Barack Obama expressed their sadness over death.
"He reshaped the television landscape forever as a creative and innovative producer. And, of course, for 40 years, we welcomed him into our homes to ring in the New Year. But more important than his groundbreaking achievements was the way he made us feel – as young and vibrant and optimistic as he was," President Obama wrote in a White House statement.
"Dick Clark was a great guy and one of the first people to play my records. He will be missed," Tony Bennett tweeted.
"I am deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend Dick Clark. He has truly been one of the greatest influences in my life. I idolized him from the start, and I was graced early on in my career with his generous advice and counsel," Ryan Seacrest, Clark's "Rockin' Eve" heir apparent, said in a statement to E! news.
"Dick Clark was a great friend, true legend, & a master journalist. Nobody did what he did better. It was a pleasure to be in his company," Larry King tweeted.
"Dick Clark was a true American Icon who did more for America and American race relations, music and entertainment," Montel Williams tweeted.
"Oh Goldie! Dick Clark! Not Clarke :(" Goldie Hawn tweeted.
