'Homeland' Season 6 Spoilers: Season 5 Finale Recap; Will Carrie Return to the CIA?
The shocking finale of the hit series "Homeland" had fans anticipating the return of the series.
Many questions came up about Carrie Mathison's fate after the fifth season of "Homeland." Several revelations were made through the season that put the former agent's life in danger, even when she thought she had escaped her risky life as a CIA agent.
The finale of "Homeland" season 5 saw Mathison, played by Claire Danes, meeting up with Qasim, played by Alireza Bayram. Qasim is a jihadi who helped Carrie stop the release of sarin gas. However, their meeting took a turn for the worse when Qasim ended up being killed.
Another emotional part of the finale was when Mathison read Quinn's letter, which also had fans confused about what will happen to the character when the series returns. There are already speculations that Quinn had died in the season finale, since there was a scene showing a bright light entering his room, which signifies his search for peace.
There are also speculations on whether Mathison will be returning to the CIA for the upcoming season. The season saw Mathison caught up with the organization once again despite drying to leave it to raise her child.
According to Variety, the executive producer of the series, Lesli Linka Glatter, was able to address the rumors. When asked if Mathison will be returning to the CIA, she stated, "It'll be interesting to see where next season goes as far as that goes. Until we have that series of meetings, I don't know yet if Alex has any idea. But those meetings in Washington have such a big impact."
When asked about Quinn, the executive producer provided a vague statement by saying, "What incredible work has Rupert (Friend) done this season! He's just extraordinary. I feel so lucky as a director to be working with this cast. It certainly has made me more fearless for sure."
