'Homeland' Season 7 Cast News: James D'Arcy Tapped for Reccuring Role
"Homeland" season 7 has added James D'Arcy to its cast.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, D'Arcy is set to portray the recurring role of Anson, who is described to be "an arrogant former special ops agent." Anson and Carrie (Claire Danes) know each other because they both went to The Farm at the same time.
Production on the seventh season of the Showtime drama series is currently underway in Richmond, Virginia. Despite shooting not having wrapped yet, the network released the first action-packed trailer not too long ago.
The trailer saw the aftermath of the attempted assassination of President-elect Elizabeth Keane (Elizabeth Marvel). With the help of Carrie, Keane was able to survive the attempt on her life. However, the new season will also show Carrie turning on Keane, as she follows the trail of corruption in the White House.
Despite the show tackling politics, showrunner Alex Gansa told The Washington Post that they are not trying to mimic real life. He also revealed that there are things happening in the real world that they would not dare touch.
"We're really not trying to be prescient or comment too directly on what's happening in the world. Frankly, some of the stuff that's going on is quite scary — we don't address North Korea, for example," he said.
He also compared Keane's administration with the current one led by President Donald Trump. While the two administrations differ in that one is liberal and the other is conservative, Gansa pointed out that there are still similar issues faced by both.
"There's a degree of paranoia inside the Oval Office," he said. "There's also a great degree of truth about the forces they're facing and the national security establishment that is committed to politics that run counter to the administration."
"Homeland" season 7 will premiere on Sunday, Feb. 11, at 9 p.m. EST on Showtime.
