'Homeland' Season 7 Spoilers: Carrie Deals with International Terrorists

Carrie (Claire Danes) will get to do what she does best once again the upcoming season of "Homeland."

Spoilers for the new installment reveal that Carrie will be back in the intelligence community after taking a long hiatus. According to series creator Alex Gansa, it is time for the former CIA agent to return to the fold. Carrie previously left Langley when she was accused of treason. It took a while for her to clear her name, and when she eventually returned to the US, she opted to do voluntary work. It has been revealed that aside from her usual missions, Carrie will once again be sent outside the country to handle cases where she will likely encounter international terrorists.

"We are faced with the task, again, of getting our lead character Carrie Mathison back into the intelligence community. She's been outside that business for too long. And I think we've exhausted the storytelling around that idea. We're going to have to get her back and we're hoping to send her on a mission overseas," Gansa said.

Last installment, Carrie was promoted as one of President Keane's (Elizabeth Marvel) senior advisors. It is expected that she will resign from the position following her conflict with the POTUS. Keane refused to speak to Carrie about Saul's (Mandy Patinkin) predicament. He was one of the 200 individuals who were captured shortly after the failed coup against the administration. Carrie fears that Keane's paranoia has consumed her whole. She regrets that the leader no longer sees reason.

Meanwhile, production is currently ongoing for the Showtime series. It has been reported that the cast and crew recently went to Hopewell, Virginia to film some scenes. At the moment, Showtime has yet to release the final schedule for the premiere of "Homeland" season 7. It is expected that it will air in January 2018.
