'Homeland' Season 7 Spoilers: Carrie to Take on Overseas Mission for the CIA

Carrie (Claire Danes) will take on overseas missions in the upcoming season of "Homeland."

According to IB Times, Carrie will be quite busy in the new installment, especially when she rejoins the intelligence community. Series creator Alex Gansa has teased that the time has come for the former CIA agent to return to the fold. After her unfortunate experience in the past, when her own team accused her of treason, Carrie has steered clear of anything related to Intel. Now, she is once again ready to embrace what she has always loved.

"We are faced with the task, again, of getting our lead character Carrie Mathison back into the intelligence community. She's been outside that business for too long. And I think we've exhausted the storytelling around that idea. We're going to have to get her back and we're hoping to send her on a mission overseas," Gansa said.

Carrie is expected to resign from her position as one of President Keane's (Elizabeth Marvel) advisors. In the past finale, Carrie found out that the new leader let her paranoia get the best of her and ordered a mass arrest of men suspected to be part of the coup against her. Saul (Mandy Patinkin) was one of those captured, and when he asked for Carrie's help, she did not think twice. Carrie reached out to Keane, hoping to convince her to let her mentor go. The POTUS, however, refused to talk to her.

Season 7 is expected to be one huge battle between Keane and Carrie. There are speculations, though, that the president will soon realize that she needs the other woman back in her turf and beg for her forgiveness. After all, Keane owes her life to Carrie. The intelligence officer and Quinn (Rupert Quinn) saved her when she was about to be assassinated.

At the moment, Showtime has yet to release the final schedule for the premiere of "Homeland" season 7. It is expected that it will air in January 2018.
