Honey Boo Boo Cheat Sheet Shows Family Was Investigated by CPS

Honey Boo Boo, otherwise known as Alana Thompson, has become a media sensation in recent weeks, thanks to her appearances on The Learning Channel (TLC). But who is this little darling, and what is her family like? Read on to learn more about the child known as Honey Boo Boo.

It all began on TLC's controversial series, "Toddlers and Tiaras," in which beauty pageants focusing on youth are revealed, and audiences taken behind the scenes. One child that stood out to viewers, and apparently TLC, was 6-year-old Alana, known as Honey Boo Boo. Her energy and passion for pageants was contagious, and her mother's methods unconventional, to say the least.

June Thompson, Alana's mother, came under fire for giving her daughter "Go Go Juice," a mixture of Red Bull and Mountain Dew. Some speculated that the concoction also contained alcohol, but whatever it was certainly fueled Honey Boo Boo.

"My Go Go Juice is kicking in," she exclaimed before running around for the cameras. June had also fed Alana 15 Pixie Stix, tubes containing nothing but sugar. Alana's dedication to her pageant lifestyle is rather intense for a child of her age.

"It's fun, I like it. I feel like a pageant queen… I like hair and make-up more than looking like a normal person," she proudly told CNN in an interview.

Yet Alana's family has seemingly enjoyed having the spotlight as well, with June being more of the focus of TLC's new series, "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo." It was recently revealed that the family had come under investigation by Child Protective Services, who were concerned about Alana's diet and home life.

For example, a video was recently found on You Tube that shows Alana dancing for dollars at a bar. June argued that it was only for fun at a local college, but CPS decided to take the case to court. A judge promptly dismissed the case, and Alana has continued to dominate the media world.
