Honor 8 Lite and Honor V9 News: Huawei Brand Introduces New Smartphones With Competitive Specs and Price
Huawei brand, Honor, recently launched two new smartphones – the Honor 8 Lite and Honor V9 – in China and they reportedly both have ample specifications with competitive price tags.
The Honor 8 Lite is considered to be the mid-range variant of the earlier released flagship Honor 8, while the Honor V9 sits on the higher end of the smartphone food chain.
The Honor 8 Lite comes in a 5.2-inch 1,080 x 1,920 resolution display and runs with a Huawei-made Kirin 655 system-on-chip processor. The Kirin 655 SoC chipset is usually found on mid-range Huawei options but with ample specifications since it has four 2.1-gigahertz cores and another four 1.7 GHz cores.
However, 9To5Google still notes that the Kirin 655 SoC is a major downgrade from the Honor 8 Lite's big brother because the standard Honor 8 has the Kirin 950 chip equipped with four 2.3 GHz cores and four 1.8 GHz cores.
Unlike the Honor 8, the Honor 8 Lite only has a single-lens 12-megapixel camera on the rear side with an aperture of f/2.2 coupled while an 8MP front-facing shooter sits above the screen. It is also packed with a 3,000 milliampere hour battery pack, one of the most common hardware specs these days.
Reports have it that the base variant of the Honor 8 Lite will be equipped with 3 GB random access memory and 16 GB read-only memory. For comparison, the Honor 8's minimum memory option is 4 GB RAM with 32 GB ROM.
On the other hand, the flagship level Honor V9 is a 5.7-inch phablet with quad high-definition and 1,440 x 2,560 resolution display. It sports the same 8MP selfie camera from the Honor 8 Lite but has a dual-lens shooter at the back side with 12MP capacity.
According to reports, Honor is marketing the Honor V9 as the first smartphone with the capacity to capture and print things in 3D. The Honor V9 promises a longer endurance rate with the help of a 4,000 mAh battery pack.
In terms of memory options, the Honor V9 will be sold in either 64 GB or 128 GB internal memory and 4 GB or 6 GB RAM configurations. It also features the latest EMUI 5.0 running under the Android 7 Nougat.
Huawei has yet to announce the Honor V9's price but the Honor 8 Lite, with the ample specs it has, will cost 2,599 Yuan or about $378.
The product reveal this week happened in China but reports expect that similar to the Honor 8, these smartphones will reach other parts of the world after an expected appearance at the Mobile World Congress next week.
