"The media is a gift from God," quoted Pamela Thompson at the Epiphany Award press conference on Feb. 2.
The 13th Annual MOVIEGUIDE Awards will be honoring the best movies of "cinematic excellence and positivie portrayal of Judeo-Christian values" on Feb. 24.
Nominees for the 2005 John Templeton Foundation Epiphany Prizes, also awarded by MOVIEGUIDE, were announced by Dr. Ted Baehr, chairman of the Christian Film and Television Commission (CFTVC) and publisher of MOVIEGUIDE magazine. The following is a list of the nominees:
Inspiring Movie:
America's Heart and Soul
I Am David
Ladder 49
The Passion of the Christ
The Reckoning
Inspiring TV:

Beyond following a 24-point criteria, John Templeton had expressed his desire to award a film and TV from which people can simply come to know God, said Baehr.
The $50,000 John Templeton Foundation Epiphany Prizes serve to stimulate the quest for deeper understanding in religious knowledge by encouraging movies and television programs with a spiritual focus. The foundation is partnered with CFTVC, a non-profit ministry supported by members who recognize the negative influence of the values promoted in movie and entertainment today and share in the vision of redeeming the values of the media.
