Hope Solo Too Much Muscle to Win Dancing with the Stars? (VIDEO)
Soccer star Hope Solo is less than delighted with her experience on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. According to the popular athlete, she was not viewed as feminine enough for some of the show’s judges.
In an interview with Anderson Cooper, the 30-year-old soccer star said, “I was told I had too much muscle and I was too intense and wasn’t very dainty. Well, hello — you cast a female professional athlete! Help me get better as a dancer.”
Still, judges Len Gooodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli, will perhaps be happy to know that Solo is apparently taking it all in stride, as she said, “There’s no hard feelings at all. I understand that it’s television.”
Solo was paired with dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who has been paired in the past with celebrity dancers such as Kirstie Alley, Brandy, Laila Ali, Willa Ford, and Mel B.
Solo and Chemerkovskiy began their dance pairing on a rocky start but according to judges improved their skills to place them in the running. The pair was nevertheless voted off the program on Nov. 15.
Considered a superstar in soccer, Solo is currently the premier goalkeeper for the United States Women’s National Soccer Team.
