'Horizon Zero Dawn' Release Date News: PS4 Exclusive Gets Launch Trailer; Producer Teases Narrative and Aloy's Story

Days before the release of the highly anticipated Guerrilla Games action role-playing video game, "Horizon Zero Dawn," Sony Interactive Entertainment released a new trailer to amp up the excitement.

There is no new gameplay footage to see although it did tease what to expect with regard to the narrative. As revealed in the past, "Horizon Zero Dawn" will see warfare between mankind and machines through the eyes of Aloy.

Speaking about the game in an interview with Stuff, Guerrilla senior producer Joel Eschler explained more about the story of "Horizon Zero Dawn."

"The approach to the narrative was kind of two-fold: There was the world building, which was the tribes that are around Horizon's worlds, their history, their beliefs, their political structure, that sort of thing," he said.

"And then there is Aloy's story, and then on top of that the more personal stories of the inhabitants of the world. So there was definitely a huge focus on building the narrative," he went on to say.

Eschler revealed that Aloy was part of "Horizon Zero Dawn" since day one, when the game was just being planned out. He hopes that people "latch on to her" in the game.

When the game starts, however, Aloy as a child was an outcast from society. Fans will learn quickly why this is the case. As "Horizon Zero Dawn" progresses, players will see the character prove herself to be "invaluable" and "worthwhile."

"We're really happy with the by-product of having Aloy as a character and showing that anyone can be a hero, that anyone can be interesting and you don't have to limit yourself to bold, space marines," Eschler explained.

"Horizon Zero Dawn" will be released to the PlayStation 4 only on Tuesday, Feb. 28. While it will not be released on the Xbox One and PC, fans might see more installments of the game as Sony is considering making it a franchise.
