House of Cards Season 2: Release Date for DVD Coincides With New Casting Rumors for Netflix Series (Trailer Promo Video)
House of Cards Season 2 casting news is doing the rounds, and this has been combined with news about the show's DVD release date on June 11, 2013. The DVD sales are likely to do well after the popular show's hit season on Netflix.
The House of Cards DVD will be released for a pretty steep $56 ($66 if you want Blu-Ray) – however, the preorder is discounted on Amazon.
Some fans have been taking to discussion boards to question the need for a DVD at all considering the series was produced for Netflix, where all the episodes can be watched for free (well, with a cheap monthly subscription).
However, it should be remembered that although the series was made "for Netflix" it was not made "by Netflix."
The popular show was in fact made by Sony Pictures Entertainment and the company owns all rights to the show, including the home media rights. So obviously Sony wants to cash in on the show's popularity, and there's no doubt that many fans would love to have their hands on the Blu-Ray version of the series.
The DVD does indeed have a fancy cover and various special features that are not available anywhere else, and so if you are so inclined then the DVD would be a good purchase.
For House of Cards Season 2 news, casting rumors have been circulating; Molly Parker from "Deadwood" and Sam Page, Joan's ex on "Mad [People]," are both joining the season 2 cast.
It has also been confirmed that House of Cards Season 2 is still not that close to being completed, so expect it to be at least a few months more before other news is confirmed about the new season's release date. Most expect it to be last in 2013, but that has not officially been confirmed.
Here is a video trailer for the hit show:
