'House of Cards' Season 5: An Unknown Terror Comes in May

Politics is a rather sensitive topic to delve into, especially given the current events with the country. Despite that fact, Netflix' political drama "House of Cards" returns with its fifth season in May, and it may just be its most tragic installment yet.

It can be recalled that the show's official Twitter account posted a short video, announcing its much-awaited season premiere on May 30, 2017. Another thing that's worth noticing as well is how the flag is raised upside down, and the caption saying "We make the terror" makes it all the more foreboding and concerning indeed.

Seeing that the flag is positioned the way it is, it already gives hints that season 5 is going to place the country in dire distress, and what form such danger takes is what makes it even more curiosity-inciting. There are a few clues that could lead to forming speculations as to what this is, starting with new characters that are bound to join in the fray.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, two well-renowned actors, namely Patricia Clarkson and Campbell Scott, are going to be cast for season 5. Despite the fact that Netflix has been mum as to the nature of their participation and what their roles will be, it has been reported that both will be featured heavily, making them central to the plot twists.

With this in mind, one hunch could be that they may be responsible for the unknown terror that's to befall Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) in his hopeful ascension as president of the United States. If anything, that won't be impossible given the caliber of the actors.

As far as the tragedy, Michael Kelly, who plays Doug Stamper, hints on the possibility of Frank dying. "You lose characters that you love. We almost lost Frank, and I always have faith in the writers that no matter what road we go down, we're going to come back to what the show is," he tells Deadline.

This will be something to watch out for when "House of Cards" returns for its fifth season on May 30, 2017 on Netflix.
