'House of Cards' Season 6 Air Date, News: Cast Safe, Filming Continues Despite Baltimore Shooting
"House of Cards" season 6 locked down the set on Wednesday following reports that an active gunman open-fired at an office park in a nearby location. The incident, however, won't impact production and everyone in the cast and crew are safe as the FBI launched their hunt for the shooter.
"House of Cards" executive producer Dana Brunetti and Netflix confirmed the temporary lockdown via a statement on The Hollywood Reporter. Brunetti stated that they have gotten word from local authorities on the incident but work on the show continued on Wednesday.
Police eventually arrested the shooter, Radee L. Prince. He's detained in a jail cell in Delaware with a bail of $2.1 million, reported by The Baltimore Sun.
Meanwhile, Brunetti expressed his disappointment on Facebook over the lack of news about the shooting incident on mainstream media. His post elicited strong reactions and Brunetti got into a heated argument with his followers.
A few days ago, "House of Cards" also made headlines because Russian internet trolls confirmed they learned about American politics from watching the series.
"CNN asked me to come on air the other day to talk about House of Cards and Russia, and today there is an ongoing active shooter near the 'House of Cards' stage and zero coverage," Brunetti wrote.
Meanwhile, "House of Cards" is filming season 6 despite no official renewal announcement from Netflix so far. Season 5 started streaming on the platform last May but the response to the show tempered down since.
Some critics expressed that "House of Cards" season 5 seemed less interesting now because of what is happening in politics in real life. Stars Kevin Spacey (Frank Underwood) and Robin Wright (Claire Underwood) once joked that the new administration under President Donald Trump has been stealing plots from "House of Cards."
"House of Cards" seasons 1 to 5 are still streaming on Netflix.
