'House of Cards' Season 6 News: Netflix Cancels Show Amid Kevin Spacey Controversy

Consistent with Netflix's reputation on TV and original series, "House of Cards" was one of the most highly watched shows on the streaming service. It stars Kevin Spacey, who plays the role of Francis Underwood. After five season of success, recent reports have revealed that the series' sixth season is the final one to be released as Netflix has cancelled the show amid controversies regarding Spacey.

Spacey was recently accused by "Star Trek Discovery" actor Anthony Rapp, saying that the "House of Cards" celebrity made inappropriate advances towards him when he was 14 years old. The actor was allegedly drunk, and Spacey has recently responded that he does not remember the encounter but maintained that if he did as Rapp described, then Spacey admitted that he owes him an apology. Furthermore, Spacey publicly admitted that he was living life as a gay man. However, the apology and the admission did not receive positive reactions from the fans and the community.

"Media Rights Capital and Netflix are deeply troubled by last night's news concerning Kevin Spacey," Netflix and Media Rights Capital said in a joint statement, as reported by Deadline. "In response to last night's revelations, executives from both of our companies arrived in Baltimore this afternoon to meet with our cast and crew to ensure that they continue to feel safe and supported. As previously scheduled, Kevin Spacey is not working on set at this time."
