The Rockets are coming out of a win, 105-96, against the Detroit Pistons Wednesday. James Harden had 37 points and 12 assists in his Rockets debut and Jeremy Lin has 12 points and eight assists.
Rockets Coach Kevin McHale said Harden and Lin are "very good together."
"James Harden allows him (Lin) to just be a very good basketball player. He's going to take a lot of playmaking off of his plate, but they can be very good together," said the coach.
In a trade with Oklahoma City, the Rockets acquired Harden and settled on a five-year, $80 million contract extension this week.
Lin, an outspoken Christian, applauded Harden for his "awesome performance."
"We just let him go to work and played off of him and it was really nice."
The Hawks are kicking off their season with tonight's game and they've never lost an opener since 2006-2007. Trading Joe Johnson and Marvin Williams, the Hawks acquired Anthony Morrow, Jordan Farmar, DeShawn Stevenson, and Jordan Williams. Newcomers include Kyle Korver and Lou Williams.
"When you look at us on paper, everybody says we're a team that has some good players, can make shots, will be able to get up and down the floor, will be able to score," said Coach Larry Drew. "But will we be able to defend? That will be the big question."
