How Can I Obey God and Not Judge Others?

Be very careful, then, how you live–not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:15-16

Have you ever tried to learn a new game that had a lot of rules? Forgetting a rule might make you lose the game. Some people think that being a Christian is like that. They think that to make God happy, they have to learn a lot of rules.

In Bible times, people called Pharisees, the religious leaders, did just that. They made up a lot of rules and said that the only way to make God happy was to obey all the rules on their list. Many of the Pharisees were busy judging others. They forgot God's most important rule–to show His love to others.
In the Bible, God has given you rules or commands to obey. You are responsible for your own behavior in obeying God by keeping His rules. You may not agree with someone else's choices, but you are not responsible for what other people do. Let God judge (decide) if that person's actions are right or wrong. Your job is to show him God's love and help him do what is right. Be wise. Don't be like the Pharisees who loved finding fault in others and judging them.
