How Do I Reverence God?
. . . let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe. Hebrews 12:28
How would you act if you were invited to visit a king? Would you run into his throne room laughing and talking? Would you ignore the king or call him by his first name? You would probably be quiet and respectful. What if you were invited to meet with the King of all kings, God Himself? How would you act? No doubt you would show Him great reverence.
To reverence God means to show loving respect for Him and His Word. You do not show reverence for God when you speak about Him in a careless way or use His name as a swear word. Because God is perfect and pure, it is a serious thing to Him when His children fail to reverence Him. You should not approach God lightly, as if He were not important. He is the most important one in all of the universe.
God is holy and He deserves your reverence. Be careful how you speak about God. Think about how holy God is before you use His name in a wrong way. Your reverence for God shows others that you have a special relationship with Him. Will you show honor and reverence for God today with your life?
