Scully and Mulder are back on the big screen with an unexpectedly twist. Since the series finale of The X Files, six years ago, fans have been anxiously awaiting a new release. "The X Files - I Want to Believe" hit American audiences with...aliens, of course. Right? Well, that's what spectators were all expecting, but instead they experienced a very real twist for a sci fi sequel...faith, love and trust.
The movie contains strong references to religion, with themes of faith, love and trust threaded within the plot. Independent, strong-willed Dr. Scully, a former FBI agent, works at a Catholic hospital. She becomes emotionally attached to a young patient suffering from a terminal brain condition. Scully wrestles with the tension between her knowledge that God is an all loving Creator and the reality that this sweet boy is suffering from a very real, very fatal disease.
This new X Files movie deals with real issues that exist in a real world. We live in a world where death, disease and destruction coexist alongside our deep desire to experience faith, love and trust. Why do these three longings, faith, love and trust, tug at our thoughts and feelings?

Here are some open-ended questions to help get you started in sharing your faith:
Ask your friends if they have ever stared into the heavenly expanse and gazed at the beauty around them and had a gut feeling that there is someone or something out there that is greater than them. Tell your friends of a time when you sensed the immensity of God.
Listen, and then ask your friends if they have ever had an experience where they sensed God. Do your friends want to put their faith and trust in the One and Only True Creator? If so, they will know what it is like to be loved by the most powerful, passionate Father of all - through the grace and mercy He extends through Jesus' work on the cross.
So today, step out in faith and love and help someone you know come to a place of trust in Creator of the Universe, the Creator of them!
