HTC Butterfly Android 4.2.2, JellyBean Update Now Available in Taiwan
The Android 4.2.2, JellyBean update is now available for HTC Butterfly users in Taiwan.
Those who own the device in the country can download a Sense 5 skinned version of Android 4.2.2 that is delivered in two downloaded packages. The first of these will prepare the system for the update and patch up some of the bugs currently found in the system. The second will install the actual update. Blinkfeed will also make its way to the device in the Butterfly update. This shows that the company plans to bring some of its HTC One features to its older devices.
The update could also be headed to the HTC Droid DNA on Verizon as Android Authority recently displayed some photographic evidence for it coming to the device. The site obtained photos of the HTC Droid DNA running Sense 5 that can be seen here along with more information on the sighting.
The DNA and Butterfly are almost identical in terms of hardware so porting the software should not be that much of a challenge.
Users who don't want to wait can always flash a custom made ROM. Sense 5 is also expected to be available on the HTC One X, One X+ and the One S sometime in the near future.
Android 4.2.2, JellyBean began rolling out for the HTC One smartphone in Taiwan last week.
The update comes with some new features such as lock screen widgets and a change log for the sense UI feature. Changes have also been made to the notification bar, battery percentages along with the addition of quick settings to the drop down menu. It is said to improve sense 5.0 considerably.
The update is 465MB and the company has not announced when it will begin rolling it out in the U.S. However, it should arrive sometime in the near future.
