HTC Confirms April 12 Special Event For Unveiling Of Next Flagship

After countless rumors about its next flagship phone, the HTC 10 (or rebranded One M10) will likely be at the center of HTC's April 12 special event. The company recently confirmed the date by way a Twitter post, which said: "See what we're obsessed about on April 12 on HTC.com." According to a report in CNET, the event may likely be streaming event as it points to the company's website, and not a physical venue.

The accompanying image of the Twitter announcement also included the streaming times for Taipei (8 p.m.), New York (8 a.m.) and London (1 p.m.), as well as the hashtag #powerof10.

HTC is expected to unveil its next flagship, which was originally rumored to be called the HTC One M10, but was most recently rebranded to HTC 10, as evidenced by the Power of 10 tagline. The scheduled launch of HTC's flagship is said to be later than its usual schedule - HTC usually takes to the Mobile World Congress to showcase their flagship phone. According to another report in Tech Times, there are also reports that the handset will be made available in the market by April 19, one week after its launch date.

Up until HTC makes it official, all the information that is available so far is based on rumors and leaks. Another CNET report rounded up some of these rumors, starting with the phone's design, which is said to have an all-metal case made of aluminum. It is also rumored to be waterproof, which is already a standard feature among recent flagships.

Citing a tweet from a reliable Twitter source when it comes to smartphones, the report claims that the device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, an Adreno 530 GPU, paired with 4 GB of RAM. Its display is said to be a 5.15-inch screen with Quad HD resolution. The tweet also showed a prototype phone which had a fingerprint scanner and a USB Type-C charging port.

The device's camera is said to be one that will give the consumer "a very, very compelling camera experience" as promised by HTC's Chief Financial Officer Chialin Chang. It is touted to be a better camera compared to what is available on recent flagship phones.
