HTC One Android 4.2, JellyBean Update to Arrive in 2 Months
The HTC Android 4.2.2, JellyBean update will arrive in around 2 months time.
PhonesReview is reporting that an inside source revealed that the update will roll out in about 2 months time and that it will bring the device's software to the latest build of Android.
The smartphone was unveiled running Android 4.1.2. The device's greatest competitor, the Galaxy S4 will launch running Android 4.2.2 so the HTC One will need to catch-up by having an update available as soon as possible.
The HTC One release was recently pushed back to late April, according to an announcement made by HTC.
"HTC has seen unprecedented demand for and interest in the new HTC One, and the care taken to design and build it is evidenced in early reviews. The new HTC One will roll out in the UK, Germany and Taiwan next week and across Europe, North America and most of Asia-Pacific before the end of April," said HTC this week.
"We appreciate our customers' patience, and believe that once they have the phone in their hands they will agree that is has been worth that wait," the company added in a statement.
HTC will now go head to head with the Galaxy S4, which will also be released in late April in the U.S. Both devices feature state-of-the-art hardware and make for a good first smartphone match-up for 2013.
If marketed correctly, the HTC One could steal some of the Galaxy S4's spotlight. The company recently stated that it was going to change its strategy altogether for its products taking on a more aggressive marketing approach. Part of this plan was to directly challenge its biggest competitors such as Samsung and Apple.
Samsung made a name for the Galaxy S2 and S3 smartphones by creating ads that went directly against Apple's iPhone. HTC appears to be taking pointers from its greatest competitor.
