HTC One Android 4.3, JellyBean Update Rolling Out for Verizon Version This Week
The HTC One Android 4.3, JellyBean update will begin rolling out for the Verizon version later this week.
"VzW HTC One Owners: We have received Technical Approval from Verizon on the 4.3 MR! We expect the OTA to start early next week! Thank You!" wrote someone familiar with the matter on Twitter last week.
The update is also rolling out to HTC One mini users in Europe and should hit North America in the near future. It brings some new features to the device including the new Sense 5.5 and re-vamped BlinkFeed that can now be disabled. There will also be a new gallery and video highlight features along with some multitasking UI improvements.
Once Android 4.3 is available on all of HTC's devices, the company will be able to focus on rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat to them. HTC is also close to releasing the successor to its 2013 flagship.
A judge ruling in a Nokia vs. HTC case in the U.K. accidentally revealed the release date for the successor to the company's 2013 flagship device.
"HTC is close to launching the successor flagship model to the HTC One," said the judge in the filing. "HTC has not revealed the launch date. Nokia has adduced evidence which suggests that the launch date is in the first quarter of 2014, and possibly as early as February 2014."
A new concept video for the HTC One 2 which is also known internally as the HTC M8 was released earlier this week.
Techradar posted up a two minute clip that shows what the smartphone could end up looking like based on some of the recent leaks and rumors. The design is pretty similar to the original, however, the new model features a slimmer frame and an edge-to-edge display.
Other specs found on the concept include a 5-inch Supper LCD3 display with 2560x1440 2k resolution, Corning Gorilla Glass 3, a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 3GB of RAM, microSD support, 10-UltraPixel camera, a 4000mAh battery, a fingerprint sensor, and Android 4.4 KitKat.
