HTC One Mini 2 Price Less Than Full-Sized, Release Coming this Summer

The HTC One mini 2 will most likely be priced less than the full-sized model due to slightly less powerful specs.

HTC officially confirmed the smartphones features and release time earlier today in a press release.

"The latest member of the award-winning HTC One family distills the advanced features that have earned it global acclaim, into an elegant, compact," said HTC CEO Peter Chou. "Its size and tapered edges fit perfectly in a hand, pocket or purse, making it look great and feel even better to use. It's the perfect choice for those who love the iconic design of the HTC One M8 yet want something more compact."

Specs on the mini model include a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 4.5-inch 720 display, 16GB of storage, HTC's BoomSound speakers and a 2,100mAh battery. The device also comes with the same 5-megapixel front camera and the same 13-megapixel rear shooter.

HTC labeled the One mini 2 "the most grippable Android ever."

The smaller model comes with the smooth metallic exterior found on the M8 with the brushed Gunmetal Gray finish. It also will come in Glacial Silver and Amber Gold.

Other great features found on the One M8 will also appear on the mini model including the latest version of Sense with an updated BlinkFeed, BoomSound and HTC Zoe.

The exact release date was not announced by the company, but the device will be made available sometime in the summer of this year. The handset will compete with other smaller models of high-end devices such as the iPhone 5c and Galaxy S4.

The HTC One M8 has already solidified itself as one of the finest Android handsets to launch in 2014.
