HTC One Release Date Set for This Summer on Verizon
The HTC One will now be carried by the U.S's biggest cellular network, Verizon Wireless, as a last-ditch effort for smartphone supremacy.
"@VZWnews - It's coming – the HTC One will be available on the #Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network later this summer #HTCOne @HTCUSA," the cell company tweeted.
According to AndroidAuthority.com, there are no details on the color, software, or even the price. Estimates assume the new HTC will be around $199 like some of the other carriers.
Verizon's HTC One might be a little late to the game, since Samsung's Galaxy S4 and a possible HTC Droid DNA 2 is out and will be coming soon, respectively. Recently Android announced the HTC One will be getting a Google addition sometime this summer as well after the announcement of the S4 Google Edition.
Russell Holly of Geek.com claims he has multiple sources to back this up. He says the official release date will be sometime during the summer. The HTC One Google edition will be available in the U.S. immediately and will be sold in the Google Play store, according to his report.
The Galaxy S4 Google Edition is expected to hit stores in June and will eliminate Samsung's TouchWiz OEM from the smartphone, replacing it with a pure Android layout, comparable to what is found on the Nexus line of smartphones and tablets.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 was released in the U.S. in early May and has been one of the company's most successful devices to date. Samsung was able to move around five million units in just two weeks time, according to one of the company's top executives, who recently did an interview with a Korean publication.
