HTC's U11 'Ocean Life' News: New Smartphone Might Be Released as an Android One Phone

Following the release of the Xiaomi Mi A1, it looks like another Android One phone is on its way. Rumor has it that HTC's upcoming handset, the U11 "Ocean Life," will also be released as an Android One smartphone.

Recently, custom ROM developer LlabTooFer shared on Twitter that HTC was planning to make its "Ocean Life" phone available as an Android One smartphone, and that it will not be released with the majority of HTC's preinstalled apps. The Twitter user also claimed that the upcoming handset would "run a stock Android O with Sense 9.0_A1."

Although HTC has yet to confirm LlabTooFer's recent tweet, the Twitter user is known as a credible source, having already leaked a number of reliable details about HTC's upcoming products.

Another known technology leaker, Evan Blass, seconded the information posted by LlabTooFer while also sharing an image of the alleged HTC U11 on the microblogging site. The picture uploaded by Blass showed the front of the U11, although it seemed to feature much thicker bezels.

It was only in July that the HTC U11 "Ocean Life" smartphone was first hinted at. A month following this reveal, LlabTooFer also announced on Twitter that the upcoming smartphone would be known as the HTC U11 Life when it is finally released in the market.

When it comes to its features, the smartphone will reportedly come with a 5.2-inch 1080p full HD display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor. The handset is also rumored to have a 16-megapixel camera and will likely be water-resistant. It will supposedly also include HTC's squeezable frame, the Edge Sense.

Some reports also claimed that if the HTC U11 "Ocean Life" phone was released as an Android One smartphone, then it might be given an "A1" name as well, just like Xiaomi's Mi A1, which was originally called the Mi 5X before it was released under the Android One program.
