Huawei finally announced its latest phablet model, the Mate 8. According to CNET, the Chinese company made the announcement on the day of U.S. Thanksgiving and it will be available in China in the first three months of 2016.

The device sports a 6-inch IPS-NEO LCD capacitive touchscreen with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. It is topped with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 with Emotion UI 4.0. Its highlight spec is its chipset which is the new HiSilicon Kirin 950. As stated in Fudzilla, the Huawei Mate 8 is the first device to house the company's custom design SoC. It will be paired with quad-core 2.3 GHz Cortex-A72 and quad-core 1.8 GHz Cortex A53 with Mali-T880 MP4 GPU.

The phablet will ship with two variants. One will come with 3 GB of LPDDR4 RAM with 32 GB of internal storage while the other one will come with 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM with 64 GB of internal storage. A 128 GB of internal storage is also available for the 4 GB of RAM variant.

As for its camera, the Mate 8 will sport a 16-megapixel rear Sony camera that comes with three-axis optical image stabilization, phase detection, autofocus and dual-LED flash. It can also take videos up to 1080p at 30fps. The front will carry an 8-megapixel selfie snapper. A fingerprint sensor is also placed on the back to unlock the phone and verify the user's identity.

Aside from the fingerprint sensor, GSM Arena detailed that the device also comes with accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass. Since the device's screen size is massive and needs lot of power, the company incorporated a 4000 mAh battery pack. It also has a fast charging feature of up to 2A at 9V or 18W and can charge 37 percent within half an hour.
