Huawei Watch News: Specs Revealed
Huawei, the Chinese manufacturer, has revealed details of its first ever wearable device - the Huawei Watch. According to a report in Tech Times, the device is a "fully featured device" that is expected to make an impression on those who are looking for the best wearables around.
The report indicates that the new wearable will be coming in three colors, namely silver, black and gold. It will be a round display smartwatch with a 400 by 400 pixel display, with 286 pixels per inch. It proudly does not have the so-called "flat tire issue" of other round smartwatches, where the bottom portion of the screen is rendered useless because it is where the touch sensors are located.
The device's screen is protected by a Sapphire crystal glass panel. Device charging is provided not only through the charging cradle that comes in the box, but also through wireless charging.
Its processor is said to be the fast Qualcomm APQ8026 running at 1.2 GHz, paired with 512 MP of RAM. Internal storage is pegged at 4 GB, which more than enough for the necessary apps needed to pair with a smartphone.
Perhaps, one lacking feature is Wi-Fi connectivity. However, the watch can still be paired with a smartphone through Bluetooth 4.0/4.1 connectivity. The watch is equipped with the following sensors: a gyroscope, accelerometer and barometer. It also has a vibration motor and PPG for heart rate monitoring that is needed in health and wellness apps.
The device however is not waterproof, but only water-resistant, unlike some of the other smartwatches in the market. With the Huawei Watch, the user can issue voice commands through Google Now and this will be recognized via a built-in microphone.
Power-wise, its battery has a 300 mAh capacity. The package also includes a USB cable and the watch's power adaptor.
According to another report in Android Police, the watch is available for pre-order as of this time, and will be ready for shipping by September 2. The listing, which appeared on Amazon, also indicated that the Stainless Steel variant will sell for $400, the Solid Black variant will sell for $450, and the Gold/Brown one will be the most expensive at $700.
