'Humans' season 2 spoilers: Will Niska create new conscious synths?
"Humans" is a British-American science fiction television series that airs on AMC. The series has just concluded its first season and is set to begin a new season sometime next year. The series revolves around the emotional impact of blurring the lines between humans and machines.
Last season ended with a cliff-hanger that left fans with more questions as Niska (Emily Berrington) was seen riding a train going somewhere far away with the hard drive that had the source code in it. But before that, the Hawkins family helped the other conscious synths escape from Doctor Hobb (Danny Web).
The show's writers Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley spoke about their plans for the next season. "The idea that there could be more conscious synths is very much teased at the end of the finale, so that's no secret. I think what we have in mind is very much to just move the world on a bit. We're not coming back to a radically changed world set years into the future where everything's really different. The synths are just going to penetrate a little deeper into our lives, you know? We're just going to push it on to the next level of what could happen in our world," Vincent said. "We're going to be returning to the characters from season 1. That will include the Hawkins, they've always been the heart of the show. They're the sort of domestic way into the story," Brackley said.
Furthermore, the writers added some information as to where everyone is at in season two. Niska is off to see the world and experience what she can. Mia (Gemma Chan) is going to discover who she is and investigate herself more, while Leo (Colin Morgan) looks for his next mission and purpose in life. Karen (Ruth Bradley) and Peter's (Neil Maskell) relationship will be explored. George (William Hurt) is dead and Fred (Sope Dirisu) is no longer in the crypt.
A date for the new season has not yet been set.
