'Humans' Season 3 News: Mark Bonnar Lands Role; Production Officially Begins
Mark Bonnar is officially on board for the upcoming season of AMC's "Humans."
The sci-fi drama has added Bonnar to its lineup for season 3, according to reports. The "Catastrophe" star has been tapped to play Neil Sommer, a mysterious charming scientist. While working on a government commission, he crosses paths with Laura (Katherine Parkinson) and forms a strong personal connection with her.
Aside from Parkinson, he joins cast members Emily Berrington, Ivanno Jeremiah, Ruth Bradley, Colin Morgan, Gemma Chan and Tom Goodman-Hill. Bonnar's most recent TV projects include "Shetland," "Unforgotten" and "Apple Tree Yard." His film credits include "Billionaire Ransom," "All the Ordinary Angels" and "Porridge."
Season 3 will pick up with the synth family, Mia (Chan), Niska (Berrington) and Max (Jeremiah) fighting for their right to survive. Meanwhile, Joe (Goodman-Hill) Laura (Parkinson) and their children Mattie, Toby and Sophie struggle to deal with the violent events of the previous season. As humans battle it out with the synths, things will become more complicated for everyone.
Last week, creator Sam Vincent took to his Twitter to reveal that filming for the show has begun. "#Humans3 starts shooting today. Biggest, boldest series yet! Best of luck to the #1 cast & crew in TV," he posted, along with a photo of a mug given to him by a fan.
"Returning one year after the dawn of consciousness, a decimated and oppressed Synth population fights to survive in a world that hates and fears them. In a divided Britain, Synths and humans struggle to broker an uneasy peace, but when fractures within the Synth community itself start to appear, all hope of stability comes under threat," reads a press release for the show's third installment.
The eight-episode third season of "Humans" premieres 2018 on AMC. An exact release date has yet to be announced by the network.
