Chinese tech company Lenovo recently announced that it would be releasing a 55-inch flat panel television that will employ Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich as its operating system.
The television was dubbed the K91 by the company who also revealed some other specifications for it included an IPS 3D display, 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, HDMI, USB and an SD card slot.
It will not be considered an actual Google TV, but it will use Google’s operating software.
It will also feature a 5-megapixel webcam that will let customers’ use Kinect-like commands to switch channels, play videos, and more. The K91 will also come with 100 applications pre-installed and customers will have access to Lenovo’s app marketplace and cloud services through the device.
Lenovo has not issued a price on the television yet.
The K91 is not the only device Lenovo is planning to launch in the near future. The company will also release its IdeaTab S2 tablet that will use Ice Cream Sandwich sometime soon after announcing it shortly before the beginning of this year’s Consumer Electronics Show.
This device will feature a 10.1-inch display, dual core processor, Android 4.0, 3G, Wi-Fi, 1GB or RAM and up to 64GB of SSD space. The tablet is actually a tablet-keyboard combo similar to the Asus Transformer Prime. When it's hooked up to its keyboard dock the IdeaPad 2’s battery can last up to 18 hours.
The Consumer Electronics Show is scheduled to take place this week in Las Vegas, Nevada. More details on these products should become available during the events taking place at the show this week.
Ice Cream Sandwich is currently available on the Galaxy Nexus smartphone. Many new devices are expected to include this software in 2012.
