Ice Cream Sandwich Android: New Camera Features Include Panorama
The Galaxy Nexus and its new operating system, Ice Cream Sandwich, come with some new and improved camera features and "Panorama."
Ice Cream Sandwich's camera has zero shutter lag. As soon as users press the shutter button on the Galaxy Nexus, a new photo is taken without any delay.
The new camera application also aids users in creating a much better shot of their photos. Its touch-to-focus option allows for a much wider range of compositions and more fine-tuned control over the image's focus.

Users who wish to spice up their images can also take advantage of the camera's photo editing capabilities. Some of the photo filters offered include a hipster filter option.
Fine-tuning for shadows, highlights, and midtones (fill light) make up some of the other editing functions for the camera.
Ice Cream Sandwich's camera app also supports time-lapse photography, which allows users to produce well-done time-lapse footage while on the move.
Users can share their photos through social networking sites such as Flickr, Twitter, Gmail, G+, Messaging, and Picasa.
As for the video filming features, users can record up to 1080p and capture some great high-def videos. The continuous focus option allows for easier filming as well. Users can also zoom in while recording and snap still frames while in the middle of shooting.
Panorama allows Ice Cream Sandwich users to create an image which is stitched together using footage taken of a certain area. In other words, the camera can scan an entire desk and include the entire piece of furniture in an image if scanned properly.
Ice Cream Sandwich allows the user to unlock their phone using facial recognition technology. What this means is that the device’s interface can be accessed by the phone scanning the users face with its camera. This makes locking more efficient on the smartphone since it blocks access to anyone without the users face from getting into the smartphone.
Liam Spradlin, writer for Android Police, offered his thoughts on the camera app: "With all of the new recording/shooting features, and heaps of exposure-adjustment and fine-tuning options, Ice Cream Sandwich appears to be bringing your cellular camera closer to replacing your point-and-shoot, as well as your camcorder."
