Ice Cream Sandwich Release Date: Several HTC Devices Will Upgrade to Android 4.0 ICS
Consumers have been anticipating which smartphones currently on the market will receive an update from Android 2.3 Gingerbread to the latest operating system, Android 4.0, or Ice Cream Sandwich.
Several manufacturers have confirmed their various Android-powered smartphones for updates. However, HTC has yet to reveal which of its smartphones will receive Ice Cream Sandwich.
Tech website GizmoCrunch reports that Twitter user "@tom_c" asked HTC about its plans to update its current smartphones to Ice Cream Sandwich.

"While our goal is to upgrade several recent devices, we want to maintain every phone's performance. Please stay tuned for more info," HTC said in response on its Twitter page.
GizmoCrunch proposes that popular smartphone the HTC Desire HD will not be among the HTC phones to receive an update.
Google has confirmed that its smartphone, the Nexus One, which was produced with help from HTC, will not be receiving an Ice Cream Sandwich update.
Google's Product Management Director for Android Hugo Barra announced that the Nexus One is too old for an update because its 1 GHz Scorpion processor is too slow to run Ice Cream Sandwich.
A Scorpion processor also powers the HTC Desire.
Google has confirmed that the first smartphone to receive and Ice Cream Sandwich update will be the Nexus S; a 1 GHz Samsung Exynos powers the smartphone.
Experts consider the Nexus One the oldest smarphone of its generation, as it was released in Jan. 2010, and its successor is the Nexus S.
The HTC Desire was released in September 2010. However, since then a number of HTC phones with fast processors have been released, including the HTC Sensation and the HTC Evo 3D.
The Nexus S released in Nov. 2010. Its successor, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be the first smartphone released with Ice Cream Sandwich preloaded.
