Ice Cream Sandwich Release Date: Windows Mango Vs. Android
Google revealed its next generation Android operating system, Ice Cream Sandwich, and it outshines most competitors.
The technology giant rolled-out the red carpet at its “Mobile Unpacked” event Oct. 19, where Google unveiled its new software that will rival other operating systems, such as Apple’s iOS 5 and Window’s 7.5 Mango.
Mango draws a user with its attractive interface, according to InfoWorld.
The technology blog said Mango’s messaging is simpler on the software. Other features, such as widgets, email systems, IM, Twitter and Facebook, all work more efficiently on Mango.
Apart from appearance, Window’s Mango does not offer many more internal features. Its Office Word application is trumped by Android’s Documents to Go suite and wide variety of fonts, styles, tables and charts.
Ice Cream Sandwich’s Roboto graphics foundation also produces a clearer image than past Android systems. Users are also able to interact more efficiently with their widgets on the new operating system.
Two of Ice Cream Sandwich’s features are facial recognition and flick away.
Face Unlock allows users to unlock their phones by scanning their face with the device’s camera. Flick-away allows a user is working on separate tasks to scroll through them from top to bottom. Users can also put their finger on the tasks and “flick” to the right or left to close them.
