Ice Cream Sandwich Upgrades Coming to HTC Devices Soon

HTC has once again made an announcement regarding which of its devices will be receiving the Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade in the near future.

The company listed over 15 devices that would get the update that included the Droid Incredible 2, Amaze 4G, Evo 3D, Evo Design 4G and the Sensation 4G.

The Beats Audio equipped HTC Rezound will get a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich as well along with the poorly marketed Rhyme, the Thunderbolt and the 4G LTE HTC Vivid. Unfortunately, the company did not announce the exact dates when the Android 4.0 upgrades would begin to roll out, but it did guarantee that anyone who owned any of the smartphones listed above would be able to have the software named after the frozen treat.

The Evo 4G line along with HTC's tablet, the Flyer will not get the update, according to CNET. Custom ROMS will be needed to use Ice Cream Sandwich on the devices that did not make the cut.

HTC is also expected to release three smartphones from its new One series that will all come with the operating system pre-installed. This includes the One X that was rumored to also be featuring a quad-core processor, but ended up having a dual-core chip.

Those new handsets were unveiled at this year's Mobile World Congress that took place in Barcelona, Spain late last month.

The company had previously announced that it would begin rolling out the updates during the last week of March, in a Facebook post.

Some of the smartphones that made this new list were also mentioned at that time to be candidates for getting Android 4.0. That report revealed that the HTC Sensation, Sensation 4G and Sensation XE would be the first devices to receive ICS. The Sensation XL will follow shortly after.
