Illinois Shootings: 5 People Found Shot Dead in Manchester, Suspect Captured in Shootout
An Illinois shooting incident has stunned local communities after five people were found dead in a house in the small Scott County community of Manchester. All five reportedly had gunshot wounds, and a suspect has been apprehended and taken into custody.
The five victims were reportedly found on Wednesday morning in the southwestern Illinois community, 50 miles west of Springfield, according to Illinois State Police spokeswoman Monique Bond.
However, Bond did not release any further information on the shooting of the five people, or their identities. She also did not go into any details about the circumstances surrounding the capture of the suspect.
A local school superintendent, however, has reported that he was informed by sheriffs early on Wednesday that the victims had been shot to death, sparking local schools to be closed.
Les Stevens of the North Greene School District explained that he canceled classes because authorities warned him at the time that the suspect was at large, according to The Associated Press.
