iMac 2017 Rumors: Apple Expected to Unveil New Desktop at WWDC 2017 in June

It has been a while since Apple last updated its iMac line. Since 2015, Apple users have been patiently waiting for the tech giant to announce when exactly it will release its next iMac iteration. Despite Apple's silence on the issue, rumors about the specs of the next iMac, dubbed as the iMac 2017, are more than enough to make tech enthusiasts look forward to it all the more.

As of now, no official details about the iMac 2017's features, specs and release date have been released so no one can prove the veracity of rumors. However, Apple users can take comfort in the fact that a new iMac is indeed coming, as hinted by Apple CEO Tim Cook last year when he said that the company has great desktops on their roadmap.

The iMac 2017 is rumored to feature a 5K Retina display to complement its high-end 27-inch screen. The next-generation computer will also reportedly sport an Intel Kaby Lake Core i7-7700K processor and an OLED Touch Bar, as well as an AMD Polaris 10 or Polaris 11 graphics processing unit (GPU) for greater speed.

The upcoming Apple desktop will reportedly come with virtual reality (VR) support and USB Type-C Thunderbolt 3 ports, Touch ID and full flash storage. It will also boast of a lighter and slimmer design as compared with its predecessors.

Another rumor about the iMac 2017 is that for its chip, Apple might switch to AMD's Ryzen 7 1800x. If the rumor is true, then Apple users can expect its processor to run faster than any other desktop computer today.

There are rumors that Apple will unveil the iMac 2017 during Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2017, which is slated for June 5 to 9. There were previous reports that the tech giant might release the next-generation desktop before the end of this month, but with only a few days remaining before April arrives, it is safe to assume that the said reports aren't true.
