'Indiana Jones 5' Release Date, Latest News: Disney Announces 2019 Premiere Date
Disney recently announced a release date for the fifth installment in the iconic "Indiana Jones" film franchise.
After almost ten years since the premiere of "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," Disney announced at the start of 2016 that "Indiana Jones 5" was going to be developed. Recently, the planned film installment to the classic adventure franchise has been given a release date: July 19, 2019.
According to NME, Harrison Ford will be returning to portray the titular role and Steven Spielberg has also signed on to direct the next installment in the "Indiana Jones" franchise. The pair previously teamed up for the fourth "Indiana Jones" movie which was released in 2008.

George Lucas was previously reported to be involved with "Indiana Jones 5" as an executive producer, while Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will serve as producers. John Williams has reportedly been tapped to score the upcoming film.
Disney's chairman Alan Horn issued a statement about "Indiana Jones 5," saying:
"Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can't wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019. It's rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn't be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven."
The "Indiana Jones" franchise started in 1981 and was released, along with its three subsequent films, by Paramount Pictures. Its most recent film, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," was released in 2008, and although it was critically panned, the movie still managed to pull in almost $800 million at the box office.
Plans for the fifth "Indiana Jones" movie were first revealed last year in January, during Disney CEO Robert Iger's interview with Bloomberg (via Alternative Press).
"Indiana Jones, by the way, which will be coming, we still have more great stories," Iger said.
"Indiana Jones 5" is currently slated to hit theaters on July 19, 2019.
