'Inhumans' Premiere Date News: Series Arrives on IMAX on Sept. 1, ABC on Sept. 26

Following the recent casting announcement and character breakdown for "The Inhumans," IMAX has finally announced the official premiere date for the series. The series will head to IMAX screens first before it hits TV screens on ABC.

Last week, IMAX confirmed the members of the Inhuman Royal Family. After the announcement, it tweeted when "The Inhumans" will premiere on the big screen. The announcement that the series will hit IMAX screens on Sept. 1 put an end to previous speculations that its first two episodes will arrive on Sept. 4.

After hitting the big screen, the series will premiere on ABC as part of the network's slate of premieres in fall. However, the network has yet to announce the locked-down schedule for its line-up of upcoming shows.

"The Inhumans" will consist of eight episodes and will feature Anson Mount as Black Bolt, the enigmatic and commanding Inhuman King. Other confirmed cast members include Serlinda Swan as Queen Medusa, Iwan Rheon as Anson's brother Maximus, and Ken Leong as Karnak. Ellen Woglom will also play an undisclosed character described as "smart, intense, focused and primed to be swept up in an adventure."

The series will arrive just in time for the "Inhuman awakening" story arc of the "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." series, where some of the terrigen crystals have been dispensed around the world to activate ordinary civilians with Inhuman genes and turn them into extraordinarily powerful individuals.

While it is not clear whether "The Inhumans" will be directly tied into the story of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," there is a chance that the upcoming series will feature some references to "Agents" since they exist in the same universe.

The first two episodes of "The Inhumans" will be shot entirely using IMAX cameras, including sequences on the Moon. Directed by Roel Reine, the series will play in IMAX theaters for two weeks starting Friday, Sept. 1. It then arrives on ABC on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
