Instruments of Joy Alleviates Orphans' Woes Through Music (VIDEO)

Instruments of Joy, a Christian non-profit group is looking to spread the love and passion for music through sponsors and donations for the glory of Jesus.

The organization equips orphans and impoverished aspiring musicians in the developing world with authentic quality instruments. Along with the instruments is a chance for evangelism as cards containing the scripture John 3:16 are placed in the box. All the instruments are prayed over before they are sent out.

"A lot of organizations fight physical poverty by giving water, food and clothing. At Instruments of Joy we are focused on alleviating poverty of the soul by giving the gift of music. Without sponsors to partner with us and help fund our work we will be unable to reach our goal of distributing 2000 quality instruments annually by the year 2015," founder Joshua MacLeod said in a press release.

MacLeod came up with Instruments of Joy after a visit to Malawi where he met an extremely talented orphan who he thought had great potential.

The boy was entertaining the kids of the orphanage with a guitar he made out of a block of wood and a gas can, leading MacLeod to reflect on what he could possibly do for this child. He decided to give him one of his extra guitars.

Instruments of Joy have delivered 44 quality instruments to orphans and aspiring musicians in Honduras, China, India, Uganda, Malawi, Kenya, Sudan, Moldova, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Haiti, Trinidad, Chile and Mongolia.

"Two of the sweetest things in life are joy and gifts. I love that at Instruments of joy they know just how blessed it is to give. It was so amazing to see the look on the peoples faces that worship every Sunday in Sierra Leone. They were stunned and so excited," said Christian recording artist Sandi Patty.
