Interlinc Releases Resource to Help Grads Survive 'Faithquake'

Staggering statistics in recent years had reported a significant decline in church attendance among youth upon their high school graduation.

With the class of 2006 soon to end its school nesting years and take off in flight to a larger higher education campus, Interlinc has released a new and improved graduation gift to keep students on track with their faith.

Staggering statistics in recent years had reported a significant decline in church attendance among youth upon their high school graduation and researchers have found the response of the churches critical to keeping young adults in the church. Meeting the demands of youth leaders and parents, Interlinc's "ConGRADulations! Class of 2006," a 2-disc set featuring popular Contemporary Christian Music artists, is designed to help students transition to college life without a "faithquake," as Barna Research Group Vice President David Kinnaman labeled it.

"They've already picked a college or career path, decided whether they'll live at home or move out, etc., but they may not have considered some of their other less obvious choices," said Allen Weed, founder and president of Interlinc, in a released statement.

The faithquake that Christian college students are increasingly facing is the challenge of liberal doctrine that is being taught at U.S. colleges and universities. The Columbia Spectator recently reported on David Horowitz's latest book, The Professors: the 101 Most Dangerous Academics in America, where he named left-wing professors whom he alleges are indoctrinating students with politically-charged rhetoric. Among the 101 academics, nine are Columbia professors - the most from any single school.

Youthworker Journal reported in 2005 that between 65 and 94 percent of their high school students stop attending church after they graduate. And there is a 42 percent drop in weekly church attendance from high school graduation to age 25, according to a 2003 Barna study.

With such challenges attached to high school graduation and college entrance, Interlinc's resource is telling students "your faith is important and you need to hold onto it."

“‘ConGRADulations!’ is designed to meet students' needs in those transition days after high school, to help them make important decisions about their future and their faith," said Weed.

The best-selling transition tool includes music and video featuring advice from the artists themselves, testimonies from fellow graduates, an online grad devotional journal, an online Bible and links to top college and young adult ministries.

“‘ConGRADulations!’ is currently available online and will be in Christian stores mid-March.
