'Internet Evangelist' Challenges Anti-Religious Bill Maher to Debate

A prominent "Internet Evangelist" has challenged HBO comedian and social commentator Bill Maher to a debate after Maher's most recent anti-religious remarks.

Bill Keller, head of the website liveprayer.com, released a statement Monday calling Maher "gutless blasphemous coward" and demanding to debate the television personality.

"Maher, like his hero satan, is a typical gutless wonder who bravely runs his mouth when unopposed, but is a true coward when it comes to defending his blasphemous beliefs against someone who can articulate a case for the Christian faith like myself," stated Keller.

"However, when faced with someone like myself who can clearly articulate the Christian faith, their lies are exposed and beliefs fall apart. That is why I am Maher's worst nightmare and he will hide like the coward he is!"

Keller also stated that while he respects Maher's right to verbally attack organized religion, he saw great concern in the spiritual decisions that Maher has made.

"Bill Maher has every right to share his beliefs, just like I have every right to express mine. As wonderful as life is and can be, the reality is it is very brief experience and over sooner than we expect," said Keller.

"Sadly, at the moment he takes his last breath, Maher will immediately find out how wrong he was but it will be too late."

On a recent episode of the HBO program "Real Time With Bill Maher," Maher called God a "psychotic mass murderer" who "drowns babies" as seen with the flood of Noah.

"What kind of tyrant punishes everyone just to get back at the few he's mad at? I mean, besides Chris Christie," said Maher.

"You know, conservatives are always going on about how Americans are losing their values and their morality, well maybe it's because you worship a guy who drowns babies."

Maher's comments came in response to the hype regarding the film "Noah," which stars Russell Crowe and directed by Darren Aronofsky and is scheduled for release on March 28.

"Hey, God, you know you're kind-of a d*** when you're in a movie with Russell Crowe and you're the one with anger issues," added Maher.

This is far from the first time Maher has attacked organized religion in public. In 2008, the comedian released a documentary titled "Religulous."

"Religulous" had a budget of $2.5 million and earned nearly $13 million during its two month run in the United States.
