iOS 11.0.2 News: Apple Releases Second Official iOS Update
Apple has released an update to address the static noise issue that iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 users encountered following the unveiling of iOS 11 to the public.
iOS 11 was a major update to the Apple device's operating system that contained new features including a less mechanic Siri voice and a new customizable Control Center, as well as a redesigned Lock screen experience and App Store. There were also new HEVC and HEIF codecs for better photo and video efficiency. The interface for the iPad was also revamped. However, alongside the improvements, users also experienced a few setbacks, one being the noise that cropped up during calls via the earpiece.
When many complaints regarding the problem arose in September, Apple assured that they were working on it and that they would release a fix soon. It took the company two weeks to provide a solution to the annoying problem. According to Mac Rumors, iOS 11.0.2 will address the bug that causes crackling or static noise that can be heard when using the device's earpiece during phone or FaceTime calls.
Aside from the crackling sounds, the update will also reportedly solve issues regarding the attachments in S/MIME encrypted emails that would not open. The bug that causes some photos to be hidden will likewise be addressed. Users may install iOS 11.0.2 on their devices by going to the Settings app > General > Software Update. Plugging the gadget to the computer and installing the update via iTunes also works.
Meanwhile, the previous software update, iOS 11.0.1, was designed to fix the problem in the synchronization of Outlook.com, Office 365 or an Exchange Server 2016 running on Windows Server 2016 in Apple Mail. It also included improvements in the iMessage app Drawer, Springboard, and App Explorer.
