iOS 11 Release Date, News: Software Update Arrives Next Week

As expected, one of the highlights in Apple's Sept. 12 event was the unveiling of iOS 11's final version as well as the announcement of when it goes live.

Fortunately, iOS users will not have to wait for a long time before they can install the iOS 11's final version on their compatible iPhones and iPads.

The upcoming mobile operating system from Apple can be downloaded and installed over-the-air starting on Tuesday, Sept. 19.

Meanwhile, the iOS 11 is also currently on public beta and is already equipped with some of the newest and most interesting features that would make iPhones and iPads work more efficiently and faster.

If nothing will change in the manner of installing the new mobile OS, iPhone and iPad users can check their Settings app, proceed to the General menu, and then look for a notification on the Software Update tab.

To avoid bricking an iPhone or iPad due to unfinished software updates, it is always best to plug in the device while installing the update. An internet connection is also needed to complete the process.

The iOS 11 is compatible with iPhones X, 8, 8 Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 6, 6 Plus, SE, 5s, as well as the 1st and 2nd generations of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, 10.5-inch iPad Pro, 9.7-inch iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad 5th generation, iPad mini 4, iPad mini 3, and iPad mini 2. The iOS 11 will also work on 6th-gen iPod Touch.

Aside from the common redesigns applied on the stock apps' icons and Notification Center, the iOS 11 will also introduce several features for the first time.

One of the much-awaited additions is the Files app, mostly because it will offer a revolutionary way for Apple users to organize all their files. With the new built-in application, people can access and arrange their saved data across their iPhone, iPad, iCloud Storage, Mac computers, and even those that are stored in third-party services such as Box and Dropbox.

The iOS 11 is also designed to let developers work their way in adding more augmented reality-based features to their applications that iPhone and iPad consumers can enjoy.

The installation of iOS updates is free.
